Understanding digital asset data: first look at the source and caliber

When researching information related to digital assets, different sources may have different recording methods and update times. Clarifying the meaning of data is more important than simply increasing the amount of data.
Differentiate data levels
Deal records, order book snapshots, and on-chain events describe different activities. Their time granularity and coverage are not consistent, and it is necessary to answer the research question which layer needs to be observed before using them.
Identify gaps
Interface interruptions, historical overwrites, and network delays may cause discontinuities. Keeping the source time and collection time can help distinguish the occurrence of events and the arrival of information.
Keep source information
Save source, version and conversion rules for each record. When merging multiple sources, prioritize definition differences before discussing aggregated results to avoid mistaking duplicate information for independent signals.
