What questions can on-chain data answer?

Digital asset themed three-dimensional cover

Publicly available does not mean open to interpretation. On-chain records provide clues to events, but researchers still need to clarify the differences between addresses, transactions and business actions.

Start with events rather than conclusions

A transfer can prove that the recording occurred, but it does not necessarily indicate the motivation of the participants. The analysis should distinguish between directly observable events and inferences drawn from context.

Handle labels with care

Address attribution labels may come from public disclosures or third-party inferences, and the degree of credibility varies. Save the tag source and update time to avoid taking uncertain attribution as fact.

Cross-check with other information

It is difficult for a single indicator to fully describe economic activity. Check for anomalies based on time windows, repeated transfers, and related events to clarify analysis coverage and unanswerable questions.
